Jellyfish Medicine
*Lady Stearn Robinson & Tom Gorbett/The Dreamer's Dictionary:
This squishy marine animal in your dream is a symbol of problems arising from false pretenses; be yourself; it's the only part you can effectively sustain over a long run.
*Mary Summer Rain/On Dreams:
Jellyfish warns of a lack of firm convictions; using one's "stinging" defense mechanisms to maintain an air of "free-floating" irresponsibility.
*Denise Linn/The Secret Language of Signs:
Do you feel like you are just floating and drifting along? A jellyfish has no supporting inner structure. Are you acting spineless in some area of your life?
*Ted Andrews/Animal-Wise:
Keynote: growth through defined division of labor. Caution when working with spirits.
Many tales exist about jellyfish. These range from them being the spirits of sailors lost at sea to giant members, able to swallow entire sailing ships. When seen in the water, they often appear as the spirits drifting in the waters.
Jellyfish are part of a group of animals called coelenterates. The typical jellyfish is shaped like an umbrella, and most have between four and eight tentacles. The body of the jellyfish is 99% water, but they can still be very venomous and have a great many stingers.
For those who are involved in psychic and spirit communications, caution is necessary when the jellyfish appears as a messenger. It may seem harmless and even fun, but it is easy to get stung. Extra caution is needed in working with the spirit realm.
The Portuguese man-of-war is one of the largest and most dangerous of the jellyfish. In actuality, it is not a single fish, but a complex colony made up of individuals. The core of the colony is an animal in the form of a floating baloon. Trailing from it are its tentacles that can extend up to 70 feet, each being an individual animal called a zooid.
Every tentacle is armed with powerful stinging cells known as nematocysts, whose sole function is to capture prey. The threads or tentacles, carrying venom, shoot out their barbs to paralyze fish. The tentacles then retract, hauling the prey up to digestion cells below the balloon-like float. The food is ingested and diffused throughout the colony.
This colong develops from a single fertilized egg. All colony members then are genetically identical. They are a remarkably cooordinated superorganism and primarily the jellyfish can show us how to become more organized in our labors. Doing so will help insure success.
Are you or someone around you playing with the "ghosts" and spirit communication? Are you taking it as serious as you should so you won't get stung? Are you trying to do everything yourself? Is it time to reorganize? Do you need to get more assistance and divide the labor in your life?
