The Moonstones of the Butterfly Clan:
Otter Moon/Totem: January 20 - February 28
Lessons: learning to truly like others, playfulness, humanitarianism, communication, intellectual development, psychic creativity and inspirations, gentle boldness, noble dreams and loving realities. The joy of playful sharing is important to the flow of energy through life and in creating a state of harmony where we work well with others. A natural curiosity is present here, and with it the ability to take in different angles of perception to see something from all sides. Why not enjoy what you're doing? Here primal feminine energy exists: creativity, imagination, joy, love of the young that sustains the inner child within us all. It's about learning *right* attitude and a protective nature to guard against risking what is gained with the responsibility a mother would have to guard over her young and set up boundaries that are safe. Learning to be agile and playful while setting down the rules is important. Learning that through the higher mind we can find the inspiration we seek we learn to attune to the energies of creativity and then focus our ideas so that we can act upon them in a focused manner, to let go of worry and embrace our co-creative abilities within the wonderment of life.
Deer Moon/Totem: May 21 - June 20
Lessons: learning about beauty and grace, quick motion, beauty that is within self and others, looking deeper to recognize it in people and in our surroundings. It is here that we learn of our own healing skills as we work on ourselves to soften our edges, to balance our energy with our available time creatively. Lessons include consistency, acceptance, and revealing ourselves to others…our vulnerability. The gentle innocence of Deer lures us to new adventures by adapting to change in new areas and sometimes a call to just explore the wilds of nature and attune ourselves. It's about the connections to higher forms of attunement, the spiritual nature within and outside ourselves that connects us to the whole…the universal. Learning to pay attention to our intuitive nature, and to trust it. The nurturing of the young, protecting them, guarding against intrusive energies until they are old enough to guard themselves is another lesson here…a primal teaching found in all species. Learning to work with our senses, our vision, our abilities to detect the finer issues others might miss…those shadows around the edges of things that indicate subtle movement or hear what is not being spoken of in a direct fashion. Learning to be gentle with ourselves is important just as it is in expressing that gentle love to others. It does open doors.
Raven Moon/Totem: September 23 - October 23
Lessons: balancing the masculine solar energies with the feminine lunar energies within us, and recognizing both are necessary to understand our hearts and the desires we hold within them. To temper our natures so we can avoid irritating others and calm upsetting situations. Raven teaches us to work within groups, to reach and to dig for answers and accepting the difficulty that arises from those actions. Understanding rapid shifts in perceptions comes from being open to concepts, ideas, and moods and seeing both sides of each. It's about the attraction of opposites (Earth and Sky) and the ability to adapt as needed without becoming indecisive for yourself or getting lost in the confusion. Here we learn about mystery, Medicine/Magic, shapeshifting, and creation through mystical ways. There is also a clownish thievery, stealing or stalking things that catch our eye or interest. Capturing elusive insights. We learn to understand the voices of others…animals, plants, the land, people…and to transform our life using the knowledge we gain. Raven teaches the use of tools and stir the mystery of life through spiritual insights so you can wield energies in creative ways without fear of it manifesting in the physical sense but the yearning to see it happen. It teaches us how to bring forth our own abilities and to use them to fill our needs or to serve others by giving form to things by bringing forth the darkness that hides them into the light that lets them shine.
