Three Master Teachers
Experience, for good or bad, is a Master Teacher of ethics and integrity that deserves to be honored. Master Teachers come to us masked in different guises; in ways we are not always able to recognize at first. Sometimes they come forward as Shadow, or they are of Light, or Mottled within the Grey areas but they come forward by way of Experience. I'd like to introduce three Master Teachers who often walk wearing masks.
From the Shadow Masters we learn the hard lessons that bring our own Contrary Medicine/s out into the Light. I'm going to address Shadow Teachers first mainly because so many of us are taken into these experiences without warning….or at least when it's there we tend to dismiss it out of uncertainty or the desire to see only what we want to see instead of the truth. Many individuals wonder what gifts a Shadow Teacher could possibly bring that would be of use. Well, the fact is that because of them we learn about the dysfunctional patterns, illusions, misgivings and weaknesses within ourselves, our relationships and the environment we inhabit.
What happens when we bring those experiences into the Light? We may feel like we've been wrung inside out or have turned our world totally upside-down, but we can finally really examine these things. In the Light of our experience our Master Teacher teaches us how we walk guided in understanding, and where we need to make changes…in us, not in others; where our personal responsibilities and in that the ability to respond lays. They show us the things we do or say that are capable of destroying or improving matters and relationships. It's not about others, it's about us and our own accountability but we tend to resist looking at ourselves as having Shadow within our BE-ing. It is in-between the Master Teachers of Darkness and Light that we are led at times to experience the Mottled/Grey journeys. This is where we meet our Guides along the way, where we come to find our way with a little of both at play to help us discover our Truths.
It's interesting how our Master Teachers come to us and how we learn to recognize them. Do you see who your Master Teachers are or have been? Are you able to recognize and learn from these scholars? Do you see the lessons in the areas that erupt with an experience calling for your immediate attention? Do you see the experiences that call for your problem-solving, your healing touch, or your higher good to be used? Do you see where the lessons of experience make you drop and run to deal with an issue no matter what else you're doing? Can you honor the presence of a Master Teacher as a blessing brought to you through the actions of the Universe to fulfill your needs? Do you recognize that by that very experience you have the power of choice in the matter? If so you're walking with a Master Light Teacher. Are you powerless in the matter? If so you are walking with a Master Shadow Teacher. Are you faced with a choice to strive for self-empowerment through your Inner Spirit or yield that power of the Self to Ego? Then you are walking with a Master Teacher of the Grey areas.
Let your spirit tell you about who you're walking with and let those whispers hold your trust. The more you listen, the more you will see they are guiding you to make the right choice or to learn to make it through trial and error. The more you listen the louder the voice becomes and you learn to trust it because you are continually seeing the validations. When we are first introduced to a Contrary experience it is quite the shake-up. However, it allows us to make changes where they are needed. That usually includes recognizing a truth about ourselves or others, and the shattered illusions or realities we face can be quite shocking. It is in that process we come to recognize a change is called for (rarely without some painful twinge at play) and the choice becomes ours to make those changes within ourselves. Once made we then take them out into the world around us where we do things properly…with Impeccability. We learn to recognize the functional patterns that allow what we do to flow into the world unimpeded. We understand the positive patterns and how to avoid the dysfunctional or negative ones - or how to utilize them in ways that will serve the Higher Good. Think about this and ask yourself what experience/s you have recently undergone that held these lessons for you?
I've lost count of how many times I've walked with Master Teachers over the years to learn lessons by experience. I'm sure all of you have done the same. These Masters have taught me the right way to give and how to recognize when the Ego tries to take over. The Ego loves to tell us that giving is to be materialistic, a 'thing' that is tangible, something grand that stands out as 'the best' gift so we feel special more-so than the individual receiving and so 'we' are actually benefitting. On the other hand, the Inner Spirit tells us that true giving comes from the heart which may or may not be a material or tangible gift…sometimes it's quite intangible: those things that express or address love shared or freely given; or of knowledge shared freely; of respect freely given; of Intent for the Higher Good; of Integrity in the things we do and Impeccability to allow us to do our best with what we have at hand in the Now of the moment-whatever that might be, it is enough to give and there is no thought to a reward, we give for the joy of giving. We always have enough for what is called for somewhere hidden within us.
The Master Teacher of Shadow is the Messenger that comes bearing gifts only to test your faith to the bone through the unseen strings attached to them. The experience will be one of those things you 'never want to go through again-EVER!' It will be an experience that strips you of all power to act, strips you of all measure of control, or strips you of dignity with someone that positions themselves as the guard at the door to freedom and free will. This is someone who seems to force you to compromise yourself with a sense of being 'stuck' in that experience holds you at their mercy. While you are held in 'captivity' by the experience the power is all in the Master's hands. Often you may find you want to resist that with resentment. Groveling and pleading for mercy or to be set free does no good, it's always denied…at least for a length of time that seems to go on forever and you watch the hours tick slowly by. Each day that passes is agony, and you begin to hunger for the freedom and getting this teacher out of your life once and for all. While that's happening something inside you is coming to appreciate what it means to be free, why no one deserves to have such an experience because you know what that is like first hand. You feel abused and start to change within yourself then. In that process of change you see what you will or will not do to or for others with a conviction that becomes part of your ethical code of conduct. The lessons are absorbed well and your integrity evolves because of them.
The Master Teacher of Shadow is often arrogant, self-centered, greedy, and very inconsiderate of the struggles of others. They appear so insensitive, perhaps even cold and cruel hearted as they refuse to assume the accountability for troubles brought on by their actions or non-actions. They are in direct opposition to the Master Teacher of Light as they will refuse to answer your questions regardless of how appropriate they are and leave you to sort things out on your own. They mislead, confuse, dismiss, demean, and distort the truths complicating things beyond measure to maintain the control they seem to enjoy so much. Contrary lessons are at play as we are drawn into situations blindly, resentment builds and frustration grows as impatience and longing to be free of the situations comes forward. The ugliness inside us comes to the surface and we find ourselves saying or doing things we would not normally do. Our own Shadow-side is before us demonstrating how we handle our stress and anxiety, a Shadow that pushes us down into the depths of ourselves and through the layers where we begin to bring what's inside out into the Light to examine it. We don't often like what we see very much, that's not an easy thing to face, but once in the Light it is undeniable and if we look away there is a mirror held up to reflect the truth back at us again.
This Master Teacher keeps all the answers held in Shadow and maintains a mystery about their persona, they don't divulge more than the illusions you want to hear and very little truth about themselves. You find those answers the hard way all the while struggling along as this individual appears very comfortable and relaxed, feeding off the energy from you to contend with them. The Master Shadow Teacher appears to gain at your expense leaving you with a feeling of being enslaved by unseen control strings attached at every limb like a puppet. How on Mother's green earth did you get here? They always come to the rewards first and share only enough of them with you to hint at the promise of your fair share to come…surely there's the promise to be kept that the journey will be worth it to you. This keeps you following along behind them into the swamp of despair or ruin. This swamp is where more lessons wait to ensnare you and turn your world and your Self inside out, upside-down, and at times feels as if it is tearing you to shreds.
The Master Teacher of Shadow comes with a sick twist of power, a charismatic sales pitch, the corruption masked as help and often a downright devious and mean spirit. Cold and uncaring, arrogant and full of themselves, such teachers take us to an eventual fork in the road where the lessons are concluded and we are free to go our own way-often at what appears to be a very high price. By then we can see where we've changed, why we need no longer walk with that teacher and recognize what that Shadow Path is all about. Maybe the price wasn't so high after all, maybe in the end we discovered that it was quite affordable due to the benefits we hold when stepping into the future as a result. The greatest lessons will have been about the type of person we will not be or walk with. At that point you begin to see the blessing, difficult as it may have been, the hindsight is clear and with that comes the understanding of why you had that experience. You may find, to your own amusement, that you are honoring the Master you walked with whether you like their persona or not. Yes, of course you are tired and spent; so, at that fork where you part you stop to rest and consider all that it took to get you there. You watch as the Shadow Teacher walks away and look upon the new path before you and to the stranger that comes forward.
Who is this new companion? Could they be a Master Teacher of the Mottled areas where lessons need tweaking or are they a Master Teacher of the Light that will serve to enhance what you've learned? If the lessons in all this have not been understood completely we may need to continue for a bit in that direction but now with eyes open rather than difficult things jumping out of Shadow at us. We'll then soon discover that we are now walking with A Grey Master or a Light Master and adapt accordingly.
In the bigger picture of the gift we were given by the Shadow Teacher we have found understanding as we assimilate the why and how of things. At that point we can stand in the center to accept it was necessary for us to grow and evolve. Underneath it all we generally do not like the path of destruction that had to happen but we can understand it was the means to destroying what was Shadowed within us in the process…the means to allowing our own Light to shine brighter. We can look back at the patterns to see how the destruction was woven and read that energy signature so well. It's with that knowledge that we are now able to avoid such lessons in the future because anyone we meet who takes us back to that energy signature is going to be waving a very big red flag at us.
The red flags of the future will not be ignored and we Know why. We find we've learned to recognize motives, manipulations, those who slide into positions of power and control unethically with ulterior motives for personal gain as their intent. That Shadow Teacher actually taught us how to look for the good in ourselves and to bring it out and thus how to help others do the same. In the lesson/s we learned to see others, where they are standing strong or wounded and needing to be healed. We see if and how we can assist them as they change and grow or not, or to see if they can help us continue to evolve. We see the breaking points in their spirits like broken bones or their Light shine like a beacon. We may see people being turned inside out, but when you undertake a test of faith through experience you understand that happens; because you've been there. We can then see where, through observing the struggles of others, a clearly defined picture of what would or wouldn't be acceptable exists in the potential associations of the future. We see where we are moved to give from our hearts to help others heal and reclaim their own self-empowerment through their Inner Spirit and the Light within themselves.
Experience is a Master Teacher…for good or bad…and they deserve to be honored as such.
The Master Teacher of the Mottled Experience…those Grey areas of confusion that need to be sorted…will be both good and bad in experiences but as a rule quite helpful. They are the teacher that sits at the cross-road or cross-quarter point helping us to ground and center while we assimilate. They may walk around the area with us for awhile as we sort our bearings and will certainly help us assimilate and come to understand what's just happened. The friendly stranger we meet in passing or who offers to walk a short way with us. They appear only if we need them and they teach us that through grounding and centering we can be connected to Mother while also being open to Spirit. We have come to find our axis point and the channel that has formed, a channel that allows the energy of both to flow back and forth between them and 'through' us.
Energy is information and in fluidity we are given the insight we need to move forward. Suddenly we've found our alignment between the Sky Father and Earth Mother, we're walking hand in hand with them both and we've become a Hollow Bone. In this way the Mottled Master teaches us how to access what needs we might have in gaining more enlightenment; to see what needs to be shared with others, and that channel of information comes from our Inner Spirit through our hearts in whatever form that may take.
The Mottled Master then introduces us to the Master Teacher of Light or if the Mottled Master was not necessary then the Master Teacher of Light steps forward after we've assimilated things. This Master will instruct us about the path we are walking and how we are to focus what we are gifted with, how to use it to the best of our ability and better serve others. Through this Master Teacher of Experience we come to see our role model so we can touch upon the world and all who cross paths with us in the best ways possible. We see and validate the blessings we carry with us and the abundance of knowledge we can share without loss to ourselves but with gain for others. They help us find the wisdom in our experiences to be an endless gift we can continue to pass along to others with their lessons of discernment.
These three Master Teachers of Experience will take us into the Darkness within to search the Grey areas and find the Light that shines there. They will show us how to lift that Light up into our higher awareness and to expand our bridge to understanding through the enlightenment experience…that bridge being the channel through our spirit to both Mother and Spirit. They teach us how to keep that channel open and then they smile, holding out their hands to steady us as we get our footing and begin the next phase of our journey. As we serve others who cross our paths we come to more lessons but they are the lessons our eyes can see and our ears hear in the things they share with us. Open inside and out, we smile as our Master Teachers Dance for joy at work well done and we can truly honor them for the gifts they bring us.
