I find it is easier learning from Guides than following one set of techniques. Our Guides customize things for us and make it much easier to learn the universal foundations. They utilize our way of thinking to speak to us with symbols as 'we' relate to them, the universals there are guidelines for 'most people' but we all have our own slant. A star can mean many different things if you're shown one. What does it mean to you? A wish coming true...a rise to fame...something to indicate upsets and forewarnings of trouble? It might mean a call to the spirit worlds for another person or dimensional out of body journeys. What it represents to you is the first thing to explore and then the universals. If your Guides are giving you symbols we have a good Symbology Library for researching.

Tradition will help us understand the foundations and if you have a tradition you want to follow then focus in there. Here we share mixed-blood teachings, embracing all Native and shamanic paths. In our Medicine Wheel Library there is a suggested reading list if you care to explore the Seven Sacred Directions and study those we're happy to help you through them. You're welcome to do that and then post questions if you have any.

I believe we're only as limited as we think we are and living in the city, while not the same as living a more rural life, granted they are different, but we're not limited by being in a city. Spirit, Mother, and the energy permeate all of life, they are present in the smallest atom, there is no reason to think they cannot penetrate the city too. There are often bookstores...are you in a major city? Alberta perhaps?... and herbal shops and New Age bookstores are great for either notice of or a hosting of workshops and classes on shamanism.

Books on different Tribal traditions are highly accessible today in mainstream bookstores so you can gather basic information there or online these days. Just keep exploring. And you can ask guidance to bring you into contact with like-minded people. You'll meet them. We have to work with our Guides and Spirit Helpers and we need to ask for their help then stay open to receive it. It's that simple. Just trust your process and keep walking your path, it will unfold for you to grow.

Teachings/theory and ceramony or ritual will help us focus and connect in a structured way, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with going about it naturally either. It's all One. You have that connection with the spirits...so many people wait years to find it. You're already ahead of the game. Work with it. Our libraries are full of helpful articles and we'll help clarify things you may feel confused about wherever we can. Some of them have a suggested reading list to get you started. I suggest the Medicine Wheel Library or the Main Reference Library to start with but you're welcome to explore them all.

As for knowing what guidance is showing you...trust that they are not going to lead you into harms way, listen to what they tell you and then observe. Wait for the validations to appear. You don't have to do more than that until you're comfortable. Ask them to give you specific signs or answer specific questions...talk to them like you and I are talking. Keep the communication going both ways and it will get stronger, clearer, and you will come to much deeper understandings that way.
