Spirit Keeper Posts: 1270 Jul 6 07 10:39 AM	Tags : None Wasp sting and major swelling - I just need to complain a wee bit. I put a call into the doc's office today - this is day 2 without getting better. On the 4th, unbeknownst to me, a wasp crawled under my big toe and stung me. I was wearing sandles, so the wasp crawled between the sole of my sandle and my toe. I stepped on him - I had no clue he was there. Of course he didn't like it and stung me like crazy. I ended up ripping a sandle strap from the sole to get my fingers under there to pull him off me. As I get older, with each bee sting the more allergic I am. My breathing was labored the night of the 4th, 4 hours after the sting. I took oral Benadryl and applied a baking soda paste to the puncture wound - so I took care of myself. But, yesterday and today, my foot, ankle and lower leg are so swollen I can't get flip flops on. It is throbbing and painful. I can't walk, I can't drive, and if I'm lucky I can shuffle around. The unusual thing about all of this.....I've been stung maybe 3 times in the last 3-4 years, but each time I've been stung it has been in the same manner. A wasp/yellow jacket crawls between the sole of my sandle and up under my toes and stings me when I unknowingly step on them. All I can think is "get out of town!" This is too wierd. "Alright Wasp, you have my attention, now what do you want?!" So, Mouse I thought of you on the 4th as I was nursing my wound. It didn't affect my arms - no wings involved - but my land mobility sure has been hindered! I figured at least I was in good company. However, that was the 4th. Today is the 6th and I'm just plain 'ol tired of it and getting crankier by the hour. ES

Posts: 4796 Jul 6 07 10:53 AM Admin/ Board Founder	EagleSinging! I'm allergic to bee stings too, swelling like you do with hives. My body reacted like yours has been doing, increasing reactions with each sting. The last time I got stung on the knee and the hive swelled to my hip looking like a balloon ready to pop. Fevered and in extensive pain the doctor informed me I needed to get to the emergency room in the future because of that. Please don't try to doctor yourself with that much swelling. It really needs medical attention. He then told me to buy a case of insect repellant and use it all. I'm very careful about that these days. They do sell emergency kits at the pharmacy for bee stings and they are a good idea to keep around with such a severe reaction. While wasp stings don't bother me, what you describe is what happens to me with Yellow Jackets. I'm heading for Ontario 2 weeks from today and I'm considering getting an epipen to take with me, just in case. We'll be way far from the nearest ER if anything happened. I still have a visible bruise on my arm, but thankfully it doesn't feel bruised anymore. Ouch!! Your feet -- springing into the feminine solar energy? Lighting a fire under your step? Reminding you to check where your feet are? What else do your feet do? They carry your weight, they help you move yourself on all kinds of terrain... There's no ignoring your foot right now -- is it the right or left foot? Your mental or emotional foundation? Which is being infused with the female warrior energy, with solar feminine? Also, if they're so low down, is there a ground nest somewhere rather than a high one? Or was the wasp foraging in the grass? If so, it may be a paper wasp (beneficial) rather than a yellow jacket (the paper wasp has a slimmer waist). The paper wasp isn't a scavenger like the yellowjacket, but it looks for live food because it feeds on ants and mosquitos and such. They use dead grasses and decaying wood to build their one-layer open homes. The paper wasp is much slimmer than a fat yellowjacket, and would be more able to squeeze into narrow spaces. Just some thoughts as I read your post. In the mean time, I sympathize entirely with the frustration and complaint to and about Wasp. ((((ES))))

Spirit Keeper Posts: 1270 Jul 7 07 10:12 PM	Well, I'm doing better. It is day 4 and my foot/ankle and shin are still quite swollen, but at least I can wear flip flops. This is the second day of predisone and I now how gaps between my toes again and the skin on my toes have a few folds again. My foot and ankle are still tightly swollen, but getting better. Wow. What a relief. It has been a nightmare. I had a class to teach today (Sat.) and I just wasn't sure how I'd manage standing on my feet for 8 hours of lecturing. Thankfully, I made it through okay. I now have an Epipin so I'll have that with me....I might get another just so I can leave on in the car. I never was really scared of bees, but having to go through this is a nightmare and I'll stay away from them as best I can in the future. Mouse, the bee was either a paper wasp as you described, or a yellow jacket. Truth be told I couldn't get a very good look at him, I was so busy trying to pry him, stinger and all, out of the bottom of my big toe. Last year there was a large wasp's nest that the landowners extinguished, so I thought it was a wasp (who relocated to another nest) but I'm honestly not sure what it was. It could have been a yellow jacket, but there we had food and beverages out all over the large lawn and no yellow jackets were to be seen. This one was a loner - and it found me, of course. He stung my right foot. I love your insights on this event. Up until now I've not spent much time dedicated to assessing the message. I want to do that, and since my foot isn't healing very quickly, I've got a reminder to do it. So far, what keeps coming up for me is the steps I'm taking need to be infused with more feminine energy, a balance needs to be sought and I need to pay attention to what is under foot especially that from which I draw energy - Earth Mother. It's been a busy couple days, but now that I've taught my class and that's over, I have more freedom to dedicate to me. Thanks so much for the prodding to delve into this more. My spiritual life has seemed a bit stagnate the last few weeks, kids out of school and life so busy. I've just not had much of any time for myself, and I miss that dearly. ES
